Monday 30th November

The next update of this page will be on Friday, December 4th as we look ahead to the Davis Cup final between Spain and the Czech Republic.

Last week in the World Tour Finals we enjoyed another successful run with our free tennis tips:

  • Mon: Soderling W13/10, Djokovic/Davydenko W5/6
  • Tue: Del Potro/Verdasco W5/6, Murray/Federer W4/5
  • Wed: Soderling W5/2 & W10/11, Davydenko W8/11
  • Thu: no winners advised!
  • Fri: Nadal/Djokovic W4/5
  • Sat: Davydenko/Federer W7/4, Del Potro/Soderling W5/6
  • Sun: Davydenko W13/10

Overall another good tournament with Nikolay Davydenko running out the eventual winner with a 6-3 6-4 win over Juan Martin Del Potro.

Next action will be the Davis Cup final next weekend but for all the news and betting advice during the coming month, get on the mailing list.

We're back on Friday - see you then.

Sunday 29th November

A couple more winners yesterday at the ATP World Tour Finals with the Federer/Davydenko match W7/4 as it went to three sets and the other SF also provided success as Soderling/Del Potro W5/6 being over 23.5 games - it was 35 to be exact!

Both results were something of a surprise as Davydenko overturned a 0:12 record with Federer to win and Del Potro defeated our outright bet, Soderling, after coming back from 2-4 down in the deciding set.

Today's finalists have met three times before. Davydenko leads 2:1 (both his wins on hard) but they haven't met since this event last year in China when the Russian won 6-3 6-2.

Today we'll take Davydenko (13/10) to frank that form. He's played well all week and must be full of confidence after yesterday's win. Del Potro has also performed well these past few days but, at the price, Davydenko looks the better option today. Over 23.5 games (5/6) also looks a fair call in what could turn out to be another close match (10 of this week's 14 matches have been over this mark).

Next action will be the Davis Cup final next weekend but for all the news and betting advice during the coming month, get on our free tennis bets mailing list.

We're back tomorrow with a final comment on the action in London.

Saturday 28th November

We're down to the last four in the ATP World Tour Finals after yesterday saw the conclusion of the Group B matches. Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro are through from Group A and they are joined by Robin Soderling (our 20/1 outright pick) and Nikolay Davydenko - who squeezed in ahead of our other selection, Novak Djokovic, by virtue of winning one more set.

One of the reasons for not backing the Russian in the outright betting was that he brings a 0:12 record against Roger Federer into their SF today. The world No.1 is 8:0 on hard courts against his opponent and overall leads Davydenko by 27:4 in sets. As such, not easy to make a case out for Davydenko winning a set, let alone winning the match.

That said, Federer certainly hasn't looked at his best this week, although his win over Murray showed he can pull out the stops if necessary, and at the end of a long year he has nothing left to prove.

Federer (2/7) is too short to back. Davydenko (3/1), looking at this week's form in isolation, has a chance but even that is hard to justify purely on the stats. Better to go for a three set match (7/4) as this could be closer than the prices suggest. Also, on the figures, Federer has won 13 of his 27 sets either 7-5 (11/1) or 7-6 (5/1) - that might be worth a small bet.

Soderling and Del Potro are 1:1 on past meetings. Both tight matches with the odd break of serve here and these settling the match. Naturally, we have to stick with our man - although the South American had a day off yesterday whilst Soderling only played last night ... these things do matter.

Just on the prices, Soderling (13/8) does seem a little big. And with two big servers on show we must go for over 23.5 games (5/6) as even a two set match could see this mark beaten.

We're back tomorrow with more free tennis tips for the final.

Friday 27th November

Despite there being only two matches at the ATP World Tour Finals yesterday there were still plenty of shocks and surprises - including the fact, the ATP included, nobody knew how to work out the qualification process!

Later on a rulebook was discovered and it was determined that Juan Martin Del Potro, courtesy of his 6-2 6-7 6-3 win over Roger Federer, had eliminated Andy Murray by virtue of winning one more game than the Scot (45-43 to 44-43). Murray had earlier beaten Fernando Verdasco but made such heavy weather of it that his chance of making the SF's was taken out of his own hands. Federer and Del Potro now go through from Group A.

Group B concludes today with Robin Soderling already through, and Rafael Nadal already out, but who joins him in the last four and who wins the group - both are up for grabs.

Novak Djokovic plays Rafael Nadal. Trailing 6:14 overall the Serb, well-fancied before the event begun, needs the win. Nadal leads 9:0 on clay so today's surface will help Djokovic (leads 6:3 on hard), added to the fact the Spaniard looks very beatable this week. Djokovic (4/9) is no price to follow up his 6-2 6-3 win over Nadal in Paris two weeks ago but he really should win this match today and he must win in order to progress.

Again, due to price, there's a need to be creative with our betting. In the first set over 9.5 games (4/5) would reflect the fact this match could be more competitive than the outright odds suggest - Nadal has a point to prove after two miserable efforts.

As for the other match, Soderling takes on Nikolay Davydenko. Both have done us a favour this week. The Swede leads 6:3 (handing out beatings to the Russian in the French and US Opens) and clearly has the measure of his higher ranked opponent.

More at stake today for Davydenko, however, and that might sway the match his way. That said, it's still tough to call with Soderling looking very sharp this week (and with us having backed him at 20/1). So, when it comes down to a choice like this we have to let the form dictate the play, and the price, meaning Soderling (11/10) just gets the vote.

We're back tomorrow with more free tennis tips for the SF's ... whoever plays in them!

Thursday 26th November

It's been another good week at the ATP World Tour Finals as winners have come every day with our free tennis tips. More came on Wednesday as Robin Soderling W10/11 & W5/2 against Novak Djokovic in the afternoon session and then Nikolay Davydenko W8/11 over Rafael Nadal last night (the second time we've opposed the Spaniard, the second time he's lost).

Also, in outright betting, Robin Soderling, who we advised at 20/1, is through to the SF's and is now a best price 8/1. That bet was sent out to everyone on our mailing list, FREE, so if you're not yet signed up:

Group A completes today with all four players still in with a chance of going through ... or going out!

First up is Andy Murray against Fernando Verdasco. The Scot leads 7:1 overall (6:1 hard) and needs to get back on track after his loss to Federer (where Murray blamed his woeful serving) whilst Verdasco, competitive in both his defeats thus far, has to win in order to stand any chance of progressing.

Murray (1/4) is plenty short enough in the outright market but the view is that needing a big performance, he'll produce one today. Murray 2-0 (8/11) is the call with a more speculative bet on the first set correct score being Murray 6-2 (8/1) or Murray 6-3 (4/1) (9 of the 17 sets Murray has won against the Spaniard have been by one of these scores).

Federer leads Del Potro 6:1 (with that 1 for the South American being their last meeting in the US Open final). So is it a case of revenge for the world No.1 today? Maybe but after such a good year it's hard to say that he bears much of a grudge going into this match.

In two games thus far Federer, first set aside against Verdasco, has looked the better player and he's taken to win this today. Another short price to win (4/11) there's little mileage in the outright betting so better options would be Federer 6-3 (9/2) or Federer 6-4 (9/2) in the first set correct score market.

More free tennis bets to come tomorrow as Group B finishes off with Soderling/Davydenko and Djokovic/Nadal.

Wednesday 25th November

There were wins on Day 3 of the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals for both Roger Federer over Andy Murray as well as Juan Martin Del Potro against Fernando Verdasco. Bizarrely any one of the four players can still qualify for the SF's from Group A - even Verdasco on 0:2 - and any one can still miss out - even Federer on 2:0.

Two more winners for us yesterday as Del Potro beat Verdasco W5/6 on the total games market and Federer/Murray W4/5 on the number of breaks of serve - so, once again, we're winning every day with our free tennis bets.

Back onto Group B today with the first scheduled match being Novak Djokovic against Robin Soderling. It's 5:0 for the Serb in past meetings, 4:0 on hard, 2:0 on 2009 and 10:2 in sets overall. So another easy win for the favourite today? Not necessarily so. Soderling played well to beat Nadal in his first match and Djokovic only just scraped past Davydenko.

Quite simply, Soderling (5/2) has nothing to lose, isn't expected to win and on the back of his best ever year on tour can play much better than his odds suggest. No value in Djokovic at 2/5, better to play the percentages and back the Swede to cause something of a shock. Or, for a more conservative bet, Soderling +3.5 (10/11) also looks a fair call on the handicap as he has the big serve to keep this close and Djokovic won't easily run away with this match.

Nadal leads Davydenko 4:3 - but with a 3:0 lead on clay that statistic is quite misleading. The Russian won their last meeting in the final of the Shanghai Masters 7-6 6-3 and is taken to frank the form today. Nadal has never totally convinced indoors (only won 1 of 36 titles inside) and even less so over the past couple of years. The only concern is that Davydenko (8/11) is such a short price.

For a bet at a bigger price look for the first set score to be Davydenko 6-3 (11/2) or Davydenko 6-4 (11/2) as Nadal simply fails to convince at the moment and may well find the Russian just a bit too good once again today.

More free tennis bets to come tomorrow as Group A finishes off with Murray/Verdasco and a US Open final re-match, Federer/Del Potro.

Tuesday 24th November

More success on the second day of the ATP World Tour Finals in London as Djokovic W4/9 and Soderling W13/10 - there was also success with another bet as the Djokovic/Davydenko match went to well over the forecast 22.5 games, eventually reaching 31 in total, W5/6.

Soderling was one of ourpicks in our exclusive event preview. Given at 20/1 the Swede is now as short as 9/1 - mind you, long way to go!

Back to action in Group A today and by some quirk Juan Martin Del Potro and Fernando Verdasco have never met on the main ATP Tour. They did meet once though, a three set win for Del Potro in Segovia back in 2006 on the Challenger Tour.

Both players came out of their defeats on Sunday with credit and, playing to retain a place in the event today, both will be giving it their all - you would expect. Could be a tight match as well. Preference, at the price, is for Verdasco (7/5) as in a 50:50 match (not in terms of talent but motivation) there is clearly more value in the odds-against player. Every chance it could go the distance as well so over 22.5 games (5/6) looks the call.

Andy Murray then takes on Roger Federer leading the world No.1 6:3 on past meetings. Federer won their latest clash in Cincinnati 6-2 7-6 but the Scot won the four times prior to that match. A very tough match to call.

Sticking to the basic facts (1) Murray leads the head-to-heads (2) he beat Federer in this event last year (3) Murray lost to Federer in Cincy the week after winning in Canada - fatigue may have been an issue (4) he's playing at 'home' effectively and was probably the better of the two on Sunday and (5) Murray is the bigger price.

The percentage play, therefore, is Murray (21/20) and the offer of the total breaks of serve over 3.5 (4/5) also looks tempting in what could be an open and attacking encounter.

More free tennis bets to come tomorrow as Group B returns with crucial matches involving Djokovic/Soderling and Nadal/Davydenko.

Monday 23rd November

The first day's play at the World Tour Finals either produced two competitive matches between players from the top eight in the world rankings or rather two unconvincing performances by the favourites.

Andy Murray (2/5) and Roger Federer (2/9) landed the odds but neither player won in the manner that their earlier odds suggested as both were pushed to three sets by Del Potro and Verdasco respectively.

Today's action promises to be no less of battle as the four players from Group B begin their challenge.

Nadal against Soderling is first up, the Swede fresh from winning their last meeting (when he became the first player ever to beat Nadal at Roland Garros). That stunning win aside, Soderling still trails Nadal 1:3 overall although one defeat, on grass, was a five-setter at Wimbledon in 2007 - so on a quick surface the alternate for Andy Roddick must fancy his chances.

The market has Nadal (8/11) as the slight favourite but Soderling (13/10) must have a chance as that win over Nadal in Paris was a real confidence booster, plus today's indoor surface will suit the Swede who plays well in these conditions and also as Nadal's current form is modest at best. Also, over 23.5 games (5/6) is tempting given that it could still payout even if this match is only a two setter (something like 7-6 6-4 is quite possible).

Djokovic and Davydenko are 2:2 (all four on hard) with the Russian winning their last match in the Shanghai Masters final 4-6 6-4 7-6.

Djokovic (4/9) looks a bit skinny in the match betting but on the back on his stellar recent form he is the worthy favourite. Most of their 11 sets to date have been well-fought so the stats point to this match going the distance.

In the first set scoreline try Djokovic 7-5 (12/1) or Djokivic 7-6 (13/2) which would also suggest over 22.5 games (5/6) is a live option in this very interesting encounter between, arguably, the two most in-form players on tour since the US Open.

More free tennis bets to come tomorrow as Group A returns with the big match between Federer and Murray.

Sunday 22nd November

We're underway in London with the first two matches of the season-ending World Tour Finals. Kicking off the proceedings we've got the four players from Group A - Federer, Murray, Verdasco and Del Potro - playing each other with Group B getting started tomorrow.

As for Day 1 at the O2 Arena in London the tournament gets underway with a cracking match between Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro. No love lost between this pair in the past and today's game promises to be another keenly fought battle.

However, Murray leads 4:1 on past meetings (3:0 on hard) and does appear to have the beating of the Argentine. Del Potro has done little since winning the US Open (when we gave him at 14/1) and, on home soil, it's hard not to fancy Murray winning once again.

Murray (2/5) is rather short to recommend in the match betting with a better option looking to be Murray 2-0 (11/10). If the Scot starts well there might be little resistance from the South American.

Federer (2/9) shouldn't trip up against Verdasco. The world No.1 leads 3:0 with each previous game won in straight sets. The Swiss player looks a bit skinny to win this one 2-0 today (as short as 4/9) so instead a total number of games bet, under 21.5 games (5/6), represents the same scoreline but at a much bigger price.

More to come tomorrow as Group B gets underway and more free tennis tips will be here on Monday.

Sunday 15th November

Winners in both SF matches yesterday as the Stepanek/Monfils match proved a close encounter - over 22.5 games W8/11 - and there was also success in the Djokovic/Nadal game, a two set match W8/11.

That's winners on 13 of the 14 days so far in November and we aim to end the regular ATP season today with more profits from our free tennis bets.

After today's final in Paris the last two events of any real substance are the World Tour Finals in London (Nov 22nd-29th) and the Davis Cup Final (Dec 6th-8th) so to keep in touch with the site sign up today and we'll keep you fully informed with all our news over the coming weeks.

As for today's final in Paris. Djokovic leads Monfils 3:0 on past meetings on the main ATP Tour (Monfils won a Challenger match on clay in 2004). Their last match was a 4-6 6-1 6-4 win for the Serb at the Beijing Olympics.

Djokovic has looked in good form all week, beat Nadal very easily yesterday (6-2 6-3) and is, quite simply, the better player of the two. Monfils, however, is a dangerous opponent and does have a chance today if his 2'42'' match against Stepanek yesterday hasn't left him overly fatigued.

Djokovic (2/7) is almost unbackable at a very short price - but he really should win. The statistics would point us very clearly to total games over 21.5 (5/6) which looks a decent bet at the price (as it covers both a two or a three set match) and the best bet concerning the final. Overall, this match looks closer than the odds suggest - Monfils +4.0 (5/6) also has appeal.

Whatever you do, please make sure to sign up to our mailing list if you're not already on it. We've collected a few details in recent weeks, and a big thank you to those who have already subscribed. These will be used when the site 'officially launches' at the start of the new 2010 tennis season. However, to get updates during the next few weeks make sure YOU are on the list.

That's all for today, we're back tomorrow with a brief look ahead to the rest of November and December.

Saturday 14th November

Down to the last four in the French capital with Monfils, Stepanek, Djokovic and Nadal the last men standing in the Paris Masters.

Despite this being a high-profile Masters Series event, it's generally been a week of surprises. Falling, as it does, at the end of a long campaign there are clear signs that a few players are struggling (physically and mentally) to keep everything together - no shock then that the last No.1 seed to win this prestigious tournament was back in 1999 (Agassi) and it won't happen this year, of course, after Federer's demise earlier in the week to Benneteau.

Our winners were added to yesterday as Djokovic W4/1 defeating Robin Soderling 6-4 1-6 6-3. That makes it W10/11, W4/6, W6/4, W5/1 & W4/1 - a fair return to date but we can certainly add to that this weekend.

Monfils leads Stepanek 2:1 on past meetings (latest Vienna 2008, 6-4 6-3) and the French player is finally fulfilling a little of the potential that so many have known he has possessed for so long. However, he's still only won once this year (Metz) and remains a top 20 not top 10 performer - and there's a big difference.

Radek Stepanek has won twice in 2009 (San Jose, Brisbane) and is a very competent indoor player, 7 of his 10 career finals have come indoors.

The Czech player floored Andy Murray on Thursday had pretty much a bye yesterday as Del Potro retired at 4-0 through injury - whilst Monfils took three sets to beat Cilic - and so the balance just tilts in the underdog's favour for this match. Stepanek (11/10) is the outright call and like the Murray match, the total number of games over 22.5 (8/11) also has appeal.

Novak Djokovic then takes on Rafael Nadal trailing the Spaniard 5:14 overall but he does lead 5:3 on hard courts and beat Nadal last time they played - an easy 6-1 6-4 in Cincinnati. Nadal upset the 'current' formbook in some respects to beat Tsonga yesterday and the world No.2 is written off at your peril. This close to the title you know he will be giving it everything.

Djokovic was severely tested by Soderling yesterday and that makes this match very tough to call - otherwise the Serb would have been a solid pick. Only 5 of their 19 matches have seen both players win a set so a two set match (8/11) represents some sort of value and probably the best bet concerning this tie ... whoever comes out on top!

That's all for today, we're back tomorrow with a look at the Paris final.

Friday 13th November

More drama in France yesterday as Andy Murray was eliminated from the Paris Masters and Rafael Nadal again came back from the brink of defeat.

We collected on that Murray/Stepanek match W10/11 as the total games made up at 26 (1-6 6-3 6-4). On the back of W4/6, W6/4 and W5/1 earlier in the week it keeps up the success rate but we'd like a few more winners before the week is out!

Couple of statistics to start with. In the 8 sets which Novak Djokovic has won against Robin Soderling (in four previous meetings) 7 have been either 6-3 (9/2) or 6-4 (4/1). The Serb has always had the edge over Soderling and may well have again today, especially with this first set scoreline bet.

Also, Del Potro saved 7 match points last night against Fernando Gonzalez and in another potential 'serve-fest' a first set score of Del Potro 7-6 (6/1) or 6-4 (9/2) makes appeal. Stepanek won't prove an easy opponent but Del Potro beat the Czech player 7-6 6-4 in Memphis earlier this year.

Elsewhere we'd have to back Marin Cilic (5/6) to beat Gael Monfils - the Croat is younger, higher ranked, more successful to date and still has the potential to improve. He's just a bit more reliable than Monfils and had a good win yesterday over Fernando Verdasco.

Finally, Tsonga must have a great shot at beating Nadal today however is 4/6 a value price about the Frenchman? Rafa has been dismissed by the bookies as a result of his last two matches (understandable to a point) but he's no pushover. A three set match (11/10) is the preference for this one.

That's all for today, we're back with the pick of the SF action tomorrow.

Thursday 12th November

Eight places up for grabs today in the QF's of this week's Paris Masters with all the big names still in action ... bar one. Roger Federer's poor record in the French capital continued on Wednesday with a shock 6-3 6-7 4-6 defeat to Julien Benneteau.

Nadal, Djokovic, Murray etc all survived ... just about. Nadal had to save a total of 5 match points in beating Nicolas Almagro - confirming the fact that this is a tough tournament at the end of a long season and anything can happen. The last No.1 seed to win here was Andre Agassi back in 1999.

And just a footnote on yesterday. Despite Tommy Haas blowing a match point against Arnaud Clement both 'tie-break' matches we discussed, Gonzalez/Isner and Soderling/Karlovic, did produce 7-6 set scorelines ... but both came in the second, not first, set! We'll explore this more in the future but aside from 7-6 scorelines such bets also have knock on effects in the handicap and total games market - a topic we'll come back to at a later date.

Still, winners this week have come at W4/6, W6/4 and W5/1 and there's much more to come before we're done in Paris.

Interesting to note today that Gonzalez leads Del Potro 3:1 on past meetings but is the 2/1 underdog and Soderling leads Davydenko 5:3 but has also written off by the bookies. The Swede is a 13/8 chance but off the back of an injury, and with the Russian playing well, Davydenko (8/13) is the call.

Despite Andy Murray leading Radek Stepanek 3:0, and the averages suggesting that the Scot will win again today in double-quick time, the call is for this match to be over 21.5 games (10/11). The strict average of their past meetings would suggest a lower number (around 18-20) but Stepanek is playing ok and Murray had a tough time against James Blake in R2.

We'd also expect Gilles Simon (7/2) to play much better than his odds suggest against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Simon is more than capable of beating his fellow countryman even if the fast indoor surface suits Tsonga better.

That's all for today, we're back with the pick of the QF action tomorrow.

Wednesday 11th November

Plenty of action in the French capital today as a number of leading players make their debut in R2 of the Paris Masters.

Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro ... all the top seeds enter the fray later today although, it must be said, none really offer any great betting opportunity on their own. And even if you put them all together in an elaborate five-timer - not the kind of bet we recommend it must be said! - you'd only get around the even money mark, at best, should all five win.

We'd prefer to look at bets at slightly bigger prices, like we found yesterday with Arnaud Clement W6/4 as he saw of Feliciano Lopez 6-3 6-1.

Starting with a favourite bet, in the first set correct score market, it's again hard to ignore the possibility of tie-breaks - especially indoors and especially when you've got some big servers in action.

John Isner W7/1 last week in this market against Fernando Gonzalez in Basel and, guess what, they play again today in Paris. As such, a look at Isner 7-6 (5/1) or Gonzalez 7-6 (7/2) must be worthwhile. Likewise, it can also be of interest in the Ivo Karlovic/Robin Soderling tie (Karlovic won their last meeting 7-6 7-6). Here Karlovic 7-6 (5/1) and Soderling 7-6 (7/2) are the options.

This kind of bet remains a potentially very profitable way to bet on tennis matches provided (please note) you have the right two players in opposition. We can expect tie-breaks in both these matches today and there's a fair chance one will occur in a competitive first set.

Writing on his website, Tommy Haas, has stated that he's well over a recent case of swine flu and is keen to do well in Paris. If so a 6:0 lead over Clement is an ominous sign and maybe the German's price will prove a hint of value - Haas (10/11) must be the choice for this match. And the view is that encounter between Berdych/Robredo could prove a close match, neither is in great form at present, and a three sets match (6/5) would be the call.

That's all for today, we're back with the pick of the R3 action tomorrow.

Tuesday 10th November

There was a great start to the week on Monday as both matches discussed in R1 of the Paris Masters provided winners.

The tall American, John Isner, fought back to defeat Alejandro Falla in three sets whilst - in now somewhat familiar style - a first set tie-break between Karlovic/Cuevas supplied another good priced success. That makes it winners every day of the month so far with our free tennis bets:-

  • 1st: Sergiy Stakhovsky W8/11, Jurgen Melzer (handicap) W5/6
  • 2nd: Guillermo Garcia-Lopez W8/13, Florent Serra W9/4
  • 3rd: Evgeny Korolev W4/6
  • 4th: John Isner (first set score 7-6) W7/1
  • 5th: Tommy Robredo W5/6, Richard Gasquet W5/6
  • 6th: Radek Stepanek W5/4
  • 7th: Novak Djokovic/Radek Stepanek (three set match) W9/4
  • 8th: Andy Murray 2-0 W1/1
  • 9th: Isner W4/6, Ivo Karlovic (first set score 7-6) W5/1
Today the action again requires a fair degree of close study as several of the matches - like Davydenko/Becker, Wawrinka/Guez, Verdasco/Seppi and Tsonga/Montanes - don't appear to have much betting potential.

After a SF appearance in Lyon and a QF showing in Stockholm, French player Arnaud Clement has enough current form to trouble the talented but very inconsistent Spaniard, Feliciano Lopez. With the retirement of Santoro it seems that Clement is destined to take over as the elder statesman of French tennis and, despite being 31-years-old, the four-time tour winner remains competitive (beat Tsonga in Lyon). Clement (6/4) to win is certainly a possibility but a three set match (6/5) also has appeal.

Elsewhere, Marco Chiudinelli has played well of late and may just catch out the higher ranked Nicolas Almagro. The Spaniard generally spends most of the year killing time until the clay-court season rolls around and has never done much on faster surfaces, especially indoors. Chiudinelli (3/4) gets the nod to continue his progress up the rankings although his price, it must be said, is far from generous.

That's all for today, we're back with the pick of the R2 action tomorrow.

Monday 9th November

Last week's action in Valencia and Basel produced a stream of winners from our free tennis bets.

Ultimately it was Andy Murray (Valencia) and Novak Djokovic (Basel) who landed the outright titles but our match bets made sure that aside from the two tournament winners there was match betting success every single day of the week:

  • Mon: Guillermo Garcia-Lopez W8/13, Florent Serra W9/4
  • Tue: Evgeny Korolev W4/6
  • Wed: John Isner (first set score 7-6) W7/1
  • Thu: Tommy Robredo W5/6, Richard Gasquet W5/6
  • Fri: Radek Stepanek W5/4
  • Sat: Novak Djokovic/Radek Stepanek (three set match) W9/4
  • Sun: Andy Murray 2-0 W1/1
A great way to set up the last full week of tennis action on the ATP Tour as the regular season comes to a close with the Paris Masters. All the big guns are here, most with their place already booked in the World Tour Finals (London, Nov 22-29) but several players are still in the hunt for the last two places at the end of season finale.

As for the match betting in the French capital, the action for Monday is quite tricky - more so as at the end of a long campaign several players may still be chasing ranking points whilst others may already be thinking about their holidays!

John Isner (4/6) did us a big favour last week against Fernando Gonzalez and looks a good enough bet to see off his Columbian opponent, Alejandro Falla, in R1 today. Isner, No.35 in the word, won their only previous meeting (Las Vegas 2008) and seems a much more progressive type than Falla. The South American is No.87 in the rankings and may have won a Challenger in Rennes three weeks ago but still lacks the general ability of the American.

In the match between the Uruguayan, Pablo Cuevas, and Ivo Karlovic the best option looks a first set tie break. Karlovic is No.1 for service in 2009, winning 92% of his service games but Cuevas is a pretty respectable 79%.

Neither is great on return so look to Karlovic 7-6 (4/1) or Cuevas 7-6 (5/1) as real possibilities in what should be a 'serve dominated, encounter.

That's all for today, we're back with further R1 action tomorrow.

Sunday 8th November

Another winner yesterday as Djokovic/Stepanek W9/4 in the SF of the Basel Indoor tournament.

That makes it winners all the way for the week with our free tennis bets scoring everyday from Monday to Saturday - W8/13, W9/4 (Mon), W4/6 (Tue), W7/1 (Wed), W5/6, W5/6 (Thu), W5/4 (Fri), W9/4 (Sat).

Today's two finals see Federer as the favourite to beat Djokovic on home soil. The top seed leads 9:4 on past meetings and has looked in good form all week. Sadly at 4/11 he's no price to back.

Better to look to Valencia where Andy Murray takes on Mikhail Youzhny for the title. The Scot has done little wrong this week and has to be fancied to win today. Odds of 2/5 make the outright market unappealing so look for Murray 2-0 (1/1) as the best option for today's title match.

Off to Paris for the Masters event tomorrow for the last big event of the season. Don't forget to sign up for your exclusive outright bets.

Saturday 7th November

More success yesterday as Radek Stepanek W5/4 against Marin Cilic in Basel. So it's been winners everyday of the week, Monday through Friday with our free tennis bets. More today we trust as the SF's of both the Basel and Valencia tournaments are played.

And don't forget next week's outright bets for the Paris Masters - sign up here for all our best outright bets.

As for today's matches in Basel, Roger Federer should have no trouble in seeing off fellow Swiss opponent, Marco Chiudinelli. The No.1 seed is 1/50 to win!

A better play, at a much bigger price, would be in the other semi. Here, Novak Djokovic may well get the better of Stepanek but we think the Czech player can keep it close. Go for a three set match (9/4).

In Valencia, Davydenko looks in good form and should be too strong for his Russian rival, Mikhail Youzhny. No price about the No.2 seed at 1/2 so possibly a small bet on Fernando Verdasco (13/8) to beat the tournament favourite, Andy Murray.

The Spaniard has beaten the top seed before and has played well here this week (even though, to be fair, so has the Scot).

Back tomorrow with a look at both finals, then we're off to Paris next week - click outright tennis bets to sign up.

Friday 6th November

There have been winners everyday this week with Garcia-Lopez W8/13 and Serra W9/4 (Mon), Korolev W4/6 (Tue), Isner W7/1 (Wed) and then two more successes yesterday as Robredo W5/6 and Gasquet W5/6 (Thu).

Another tidy profit made from our free tennis bets and more to follow today as we head off to Valencia and Basel on QF's day. And don't forget, you can sign up for next week's exclusive outright bets for the last regular tournament of the season, the Paris Masters, right now.

Don't miss out! Now for today's information as we begin with the action over in the Swiss capital.

So far Roger Federer, chasing a fourth straight title here, hasn't been tested ... and probably won't be today against Evgeny Korolev. They've met once this year, in the Australian Open, and Federer won 6-2 6-3 6-1. What's more, he's 1/25 to win!

Djokovic leads Wawrinka 6:2 on past meetings and after a 6-0 6-0 win against Jan Hernych yesterday the Serb must be the choice for that match and Richard Gasquet, likewise, should have the beating of another native player Marco Chiudinelli. Both, however, are very short at 1/5 and 1/2 - the double only pays a skinny 5/6.

Better to take a chance with Radek Stepanek (5/4) to defeat Marin Cilic. The Czech is a good player indoors (7 of his 10 career finals have come indoors) and Cilic, with no real chance of making the World Tour finals, might just be running out of gas after a busy recent spell. Stepanek isn't a great price, nearer 6/4 would be ideal, but he has a decent shot of winning today as the pair are 1:1 on past meetings.

In Valencia the top seeds Murray (No.1) and Davydenko (No.2) should both progress to the SF's with some ease. However, both other favourites could be in for a hard day as Verdasco (trails Robredo 3:4) and Simon (trails Youzhny 0:4) need to overturn the formbook in order to progress.

That said, we think that Verdasco should pull through against his fellow Spaniard, Robredo, and Simon (5/6) has the incentive to see off the Russian, Youzhny, as he tries to qualify for London.

Thursday 5th November

En route to his R1 win over Fernando Gonzalez last night in Basel, the tall American, John Isner, won the first set of the match on a tie-break - landing a 7/1 winner in the process.

It's the kind of bet (first set correct score) which is most under-rated in tennis betting. Punters tend to latch onto outright winners, set betting and handicaps. It was seen to good effect last night (right price, right situation) ... and you'll see it again!

In Valencia today, Tommy Robredo (5/6) has been accused by some of slipping in recent times. Possibly over-performing when hitting the top ten a few years back (he was world No.5 in 2006) Robredo has still won twice on tour this year in Buenos Aires & Costa Do Sauipe. It's his hard court form which has dropped, if anything, with the Spaniard just 14:11 this year - he's much better than that.

For his R2 match today with Feliciano Lopez, Robredo leads 4:0 (3:0 clay, 1:0 hard) and is taken to defeat his compatriot once again. Lopez is a great unfulfilled talent but even despite some better results of late he still loses far too many matches which he should win - making his a risky option.

Credit goes to Isner for his win last night over Gonzalez (7-6 4-6 6-4) but today he faces Richard Gasquet (5/6). In terms of wasted talent, the Frenchman could teach Lopez a thing or two - he's top ten unquestionably on ability ... but not application - and in his efforts to climb up the rankings again it's guys like Isner who he must defeat. It could be close with yet more tie-breaks, but Gasquet's class (and better return) can prevail and see him through to the last eight.

As you know tomorrow, Friday, is QF's day. We'll be back then with more free tennis bets for both Valencia & Basel - don't forget as well to check out our latest news story regarding the advantages of playing on home soil.

Wednesday 4th November

We're in Valencia and Basel this week with the final regular season events on the ATP Tour before next week's Paris Masters, the World Tour Finals in London and the Davis Cup final (between Spain and the Czech Republic in early December) bring the curtain down on another great year of tennis action.

Success already this week as well with Evgeny Korolev W4/6 yesterday adding to Garcia-Lopez W8/13 & Florent Serra W9/4 ... more to come as well through the rest of the week with our free tennis bets.

In the Swiss capital today, Ivan Ljubicic (11/10) fresh from his first tour title in two years when successful in Lyon last week takes on the home favourite, Stanislas Wawrinka.

We've no great fans of the Swiss player. To reach No.9 in the world on the back of one career win is somewhat flattering for a player who has never quite fulfilled his potential (never really come out from the shadow of Roger Federer). Ljubicic is great indoors - 134:71 and 6 titles - and also leads Wawrinka 3:1 on past meetings. The Croat must be the bet here.

We'll take a punt as well on Gonzalez 7-6 (5/1) or Isner 7-6 (7/1) in the first set of their R1 match. The last twice we've advised such a bet the result has been 7-5(!) with a very late break of serve. Today, if both players are on form, we could very well be in for a long match.

Not so much to get excited about in Spain today but strictly on the stats, Tomas Berdych (13/8) is a shade big against Gilles Simon. Simon beat Berdych 6-4 6-3 in Shanghai a couple of weeks ago but a narrow career lead of 3:2 for the Frenchman shows just how close this game could be and the Czech is capable, if on the right day, of beating the No.5 seed. If nothing else, the odds should be a shade closer than they are here.

We'll be back tomorrow with more tennis tips for the rest of the R2 action in Valencia & Basel as the QF line-ups for each event are finalised.

Tuesday 3rd November

Despite a quiet start to the week, with few games being played in Valencia and Basel on Monday, we still managed to highlight the success of both Florent Serra W9/4 and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez W8/13. A nice way to begin the week ... and now plenty more to come during the next few days.

We start off today by asking whether you remember Andreas Vinciguerra in Stockholm, Jerome Haehnel in Lyon? Both lowly home-based players who were in action in their native country ... but were clearly out of their depth given current form. We opposed them and both lost.

Michael Lammer in Basel is a third case in point with the Swiss player, the world No.167, looking up against it playing Daniel Koellerer (4/5) - the Austrian, No.74 in the world, has the clear edge in this match.

And staying in Basel, Evgeny Korolev (4/6) is also expected to see off the challenge of Simone Bolelli. The Russian, Korolev, has enjoyed a modest year on tour (16:18) for a guy expected to rank much higher than his current mark of world no.58. The 22-year-old is better than this. Still, he should have too much today for his Italian opponent who has lost his last five R1 matches and, ranked No.94, is some way below Korolev's level.

The action in Valencia today sees a lot of short-priced favourites who are hard to oppose but equally impossible to back - Murray 1/20, Monfils 1/9, Simon 1/8 etc. A speculative interest on the Ferrer/Almagro match would be for the first set correct score to be Ferrer 6-2 (10/1) or 6-3 (9/2) - these two have played 11 sets in 4 previous matches (Ferrer 4:0) and in those Ferrer has won sets 6-0 (1), 6-1 (2) and 6-2 (2) - so he clearly has the measure of his fellow Spaniard.

We'll be back tomorrow with the R1/R2 action in Valencia & Basel ... be sure to join us then for more free tennis bets.

Monday 2nd November

The last two ATP 500 events are played this week as the tour rolls into Valencia & Basel and with two places remaining for the World Tour Finals in London (Nov 22-29) several players have the incentive to do well during the coming few days - and then next week when the Paris Masters will bring the curtain down on the regular season.

Stacks of winners last week with our free tennis bets - W11/10, W6/5, W9/10, W8/11, W5/4, W9/4, W4/5, W8/13, W12/5, W11/10 & W5/6 - no doubt we can provide plenty more this time around.

However, it's a pretty quiet start the week with only four matches set to be played in each of the two tournaments.

In Basel, Roger Federer begins against recent Stockholm finalist, Olivier Rochus but with a 6:0 career lead over the Belgian the champion here in 2006, 2007 & 2008 should have few worries.

Elsewhere, Radek Stepanek should see off Rainer Schuettler (leads 5:2), the generally disappointing Andreas Seppi (the Italian has had a poor year) can progress at the expense of Stephane Bohli and Ivo Karlovic will probably have too much for Florent Serra although the huge Croat is no sort of a price at 4/11 ... Serra (9/4) is almost value.

If anything there's even less today in Valencia with a trio of odds-on favourites - Davydenko (1/9), Montanes (4/11) and Berdych (2/5) - difficult to oppose and the only other match Garcia-Lopez/Greul looking like a 'home win' for the Spaniard who won their only meeting 7-5 6-3 in Stockholm a couple of weeks ago. Garcia-Lopez is best priced 8/13.

Overall a low-key way to commence proceedings but we'll be back tomorrow with the rest of the R1 action in Valencia & Basel with several very interesting clashes scheduled ... be sure to join us then

Sunday 1st November

Michael Llodra W12/5 was our big winner yesterday (the third match bet winner landed on the Frenchman this week) plus Jurgen Melzer W11/10 as well to make it another hugely profitable day with our free tennis bets.

This week W11/10, W6/5, W9/10, W8/11, W5/4, W9/4, W4/5, W8/13 plus W12/5 & W11/10 yesterday! Winner after winner with our free betting information ... you can make money on this sport with the right information!

And don't forget, next week we're off to Valencia and Basel for the tour's penultimate week of tournament action:

Three ATP Tour finals today and home players in two - Llodra (Lyon), Melzer (Vienna) - plus Stakhovsky (St. Petersburg) playing close to home.

Starting today in Lyon neither Ivan Ljubicic nor Michael Llodra conceded a single break point in their SF wins. In such a tight game, played on a speedy indoor surface, where serve may well dominate, the call has to be for a first set correct score of Llodra 7-6 (6/1) or Ljubicic 7-6 (5/1) ... the only time they have played before Llodra won 7-6 6-7 7-5!!

In St. Petersburg this could again be a tight match but slight preference goes to Sergiy Stakhovsky (8/11) over Horacio Zeballos. We've been impressed with the Argentine this week but Stakhovsky took out Marat Safin in the SF's and must be full of confidence for today's final - and he has winning experience on tour before (Zagreb Indoors 2008).

Finally, Vienna, where Marin Cilic leads Jurgen Melzer 3:0 on past meetings, it looks a tough match to find much value in. Cilic should win but is only 2/5 to do so. One small bet would be on the game handicap for Melzer +3.5 (5/6). The view is that Cilic should win this match but the home player can make it a struggle for the No.1 seed.

We'll be back tomorrow with the best of the R1 action in Valencia & Basel so don't forget to sign up for next week's outright tennis tips here.
