Wednesday 30th September

It's the Malaysian Open and the Thailand Open this week as the ATP Tour turns its attention to the Far East for the 'Asian Swing'. A set of events which will test many players form, fitness and, crucially, motivation as we head into the latter stages of the 2009 season.

No question of motivation here. After last week's success in Metz with Gael Monfils W11/4 and Juan Monaco e/w 7/1 in Bucharest there's more plenty more profits to had that's for sure - both in outright betting and with our free tennis bets.

Today we must go for Evgeny Korolev (1/1) to beat Robby Ginepri. The Russian is still to live up to the billing as the 'next Kafelnikov' but he's got talent, even if the 21-year-old is yet to show it fully. Ginepri's form is very exposed and whilst he did win recently in Indianapolis he trails Korolev 0:2 on past meetings ... the Russian can complete a hat-trick of wins after coming through a tough R1 encounter with Santoro (saved 3 MP's).

Also in Bangkok, Andreas Beck is an improving German player. Against the American, Donald Young, he is expected to win (ranked 42 to Young's 156) but the best way to play this match is Beck to win 2-0 (10/11).

Most of the big guns enter the fray during the next 24 hours - Gonzalez, Verdasco & Davydenko in Malaysia, Tsonga and Simon in Thailand - so watch this space for the best of the action over the coming days.

More tennis tips will follow tomorrow but don't forget you can still pre-order copies of the Tennis Formbook 2010. This 400 page guide to the ATP Tour provides comprehensive betting coverage to every tournament played during the coming season.

Tuesday 29th September

We're in the Far East for the next few weeks on the 'Asian Swing' of the ATP Tour with the Malaysian Open and the Thailand Open providing this week's action. Once again we've got some exceptional outright bets to follow up last week's success with Gael Monfils W11/4 in Metz along with Juan Monaco e/w 7/1 in Bucharest. There's also plenty of match bets to follow last week's big success (up to a top price of 4/1).

Starting today in Bangkok the No.1 seed, Nikolay Davydenko takes on the American, Taylor Dent, in the second round. The Russian is a strong favourite to win this match but Dent, returning after a serious back injury, has the power to trouble the favourite. In fact, Dent beat Davydenko the only time they met before (US Open 2003) and with a match under his belt already this week, which went to three sets, the underdog is fancied to take this at least to a decider. The best option is a three set match (7/4).

One match held over until tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur is between the Argentine player, Leonard Mayer (4/6) and Mischa Zverev. Mayer is an improving player and one to note for the future and could very well have too much for his German opponent who just seems to lack the ability of his South American opponent.

More free tennis betting tips will follow tomorrow but don't forget you can still pre-order copies of the Tennis Formbook 2010. This 400 page guide to the ATP Tour provides comprehensive betting coverage to every tournament played during the coming season.

Monday 28th September

A successful time for our outright betting last week as Gael Monfils W11/4 in Metz and Juan Monaco e/w 7/1 in Bucharest returned a profit in both the ATP Tour events.

This week it's off to the Far East for the 'Asian Swing' with events in both Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. We've more tremendous outright bets lined up for the Malaysian Open and the Thailand Open so don't forget to sign up for them today - click tournament outright betting for details.

There were plenty more match bet winners for us last week with our free tennis bets (top price 4/1) and this week should be no different.

One player to note in Bangkok is Somdev Devvarman (6/5) against the Ernests Gulbis. Whilst Gulbis has looked a bright prospect for some time he's never fulfilled his potential. Devvarman, on the other hand, is an Indian player who has caught the eye of late and might just find enough to see off his Latvian opponent.

Philipp Petzschner (4/6) beat Marat Safin here last year (6-4 7-6) and could very well frank that form against the Russian who is soon to retire from the men's game and might not find the necessary motivation to win so near to hanging up his racquet.

Finally, we like the look of the Argentine player, Leonard Mayer (4/6) to beat Mischa Zverev. Mayer is an improving player and one to note for the future and could very well have too much for his German opponent who seems to lack the South American's talent.

More tennis tips will follow tomorrow but don't forget to sign up for this week's outright bets.

Sunday 27th September

Two finals today on the ATP Tour as both the BCR Open in Bucharest and the Moselle Open in Metz are down to their last two players.

Yesterday in Romania Juan Monaco W4/1 (when taking the first set of his match 6-4) and Albert Montanes W4/11 against Santiago Ventura. Over in France we also collected on Philipp Kohlschreiber W5/6.

Don't forget, next week we're off to the Far Eastand to be on our outright bets for both tournaments click Malaysia and Thailand outright betting. After landing with Juan Martin Del Potro W14/1 in New York, this week's outright bets included both Monaco (adv. 7/1) and Monfils (adv. 11/4).

As for today's finals. Firstly, a chance for Gael Monfils to improve a truly dreadful record in finals (1:6). His only win came in Sopot 2005 and he's lost every final since. Kohlschreiber is 2:1 in finals but as the lower ranked player, who trails Monfils 0:1 on past meetings and taking on a Frenchman in his own backyard the German faces a stiff test.

On this week's form, Monfils should win but he's no banker, even at 4/9, the value lies in a three set match (6/4). Both players are covered this way.

Secondly, it's Monaco/Montanes. These two have only played once before when Montanes came out on top - but back in 2006 how much bearing this will have on the match is debatable. Monaco has come on a great deal since then with three ATP Titles (Montanes has two) and as the higher ranked player (37 to 53) and higher seeded player this week (3 to 5) is the bookies favourite to win. The Argentine is 4/11 to win in Bucharest today.

That price looks a bit short so like yesterday we'd go back to the stats and suggest a combined odds bet on Monaco winning the first set by a score of either 6-3 (4/1), 6-4 (4/1) or even 7-5 (10/1).

More profits this week and more to come next week - so don't forget to sign up for those outright tournament bets for next week.

Saturday 26th September

Down to the last four in both this week's tournaments and in terms of our outright bets we're still in the hunt to make more profits.

Juan Monaco in the BCR Open in Bucharest is now 4/5 (advised at 7/1) and as for the event in Metz, the Moselle Open, we have two players still in the draw. Gael Monfils (11/4 > 2/1) and Paul-Henri Mathieu (8/1 > 5/1) have both made today's SF matches.

Don't forget, next week we're off to the Far East (Malaysia and Thailand) and to be on our outright selections for both events, click outright tournament bets.

As for today's matches. Juan Monaco (1/3) should prove too strong for his German opponent, Simon Greul, in Romania. Both players have performed well this week but the Argentine is higher ranked, more experienced and, quite simply, the better player. Monaco can show his class here and make his third ATP Tour final of the year (leads 1:0 beating Greul in Rome). The statistics suggest Monaco 6-3 (4/1) or Monaco 6-4 (4/1) to win the first set.

In the final he should meet Albert Montanes (4/11) who can come out on top of an all-Spanish match with Santiago Ventura. These guys are 3:3 on past meetings but Montanes has won the last three matches.

In France, Gael Monfils meets Richard Gasquet. This could be a tight match. Gasquet leads 2:1 but Monfils has come on a lot since they last met over two years ago. A three set match (6/4) is the best value here.

Finally, Paul-Henri Mathieu leads Philipp Kohlschreiber 1:0 going into their match. Already having a nice price about the Frenchman in the outright betting a covering stake on Kohlschreiber (5/6) looks the smart play.

That's the action for 'Super Saturday' don't forget to sign up for those outright bets for next week.

Friday 25th September

The QF stages have been reached in this week's events, the BCR Open in Bucharest and the Moselle Open in Metz.

Over in the Romanian capital, Santiago Ventura (4/6) is the play in a match that sees him take on another 'journeyman' player, Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo. Neither player has achieved much on the ATP Tour this year but Ventura has done more on the Challenger Tour (including a win over Ramirez Hidalgo in Poland two weeks ago).

In the other matches, the new tournament favourite, Juan Monaco, is a very short price to beat Pablo Cuevas (Monaco leads 2:0 on clay) whilst the Gonzalez/Greul and Fognini/Montanes matches are much too close to call.

In France, Gael Monfils defeated Sebastien Grosjean 6-1 6-1 yesterday and can follow up against Janko Tipsarevic. Monfils is prone to throwing in the odd poor performance but in front of his home fans he should have too much for his Serbian opponent today - despite losing both previous matches to him (both on clay).

Elsewhere, a speculative treble catches the eye for the three German players remaining in the draw. Andreas Beck (6/4) has a definite chance against Paul-Henri Mathieu - the Frenchman should win but Beck is a definite improver of late. Philipp Kohlschreiber can confirm his past form with Evgeny Korolev (who he leads 3:0). And, finally, Philipp Petzschner might well be able to take advantage of the fact that Richard Gasquet is still to get fully match fit after his disrupted year due to his drug ban/acquittal. A treble on all three players would pay 5/1 and is worth a small investment.

Don't forget, next week we're off to the Far East and to be on our outright bets for both tournaments click Malaysia and Thailand outright betting.

Thursday 24th September

This week's action comes from the BCR Open in Bucharest along with the Moselle Open in Metz.

In Romania four of Friday's quarter-finalists are already known, today the last four places will be filled. Juan Monaco (1/7) should beat Pere Riba but today's other three ties are finely balanced.

Taking the head-to-head form as a guide - the obvious starting point for any match bet - Daniel Koellerer leads Simon Greul 3:2 (all clay, Koellerer won last 3), Maximo Gonzalez is 2:0 against Oscar Hernandez on clay (including a win last month in Umag) and Peter Luczak is 1:0 over Pablo Cuevas after beating the Uruguayan in his own backyard last year.

Finding winners isn't quite as easy as that. Current form, fitness and match statistics, past tournament history, career averages, price - all sorts of other factors need considering over and above this basic starting point.

Given this fact, Daniel Koellerer (5/6) looks the best bet to defeat Greul having beaten him 3 times already this year - most recently in the SF's in the Trani challanger - being the younger, higher ranked player and generally having good, solid form in 2009.

Same scenario in France today with four R2 matches scheduled. Monfils, Llodra and Gasquet carry the home flag but Ivan Ljubicic (5/6) is taken to beat Janko Tipsarevic in the other match. Ljubicic is a good indoor player, leads his Serbian opponent 2:0 on past meetings and the former world No.3 simply has much more experience than his rival.

That's the action for Thursday, it's the QF's on Friday and don't forget the 400-page Tennis Formbook 2010 can be pre-ordered now.

Wednesday 23rd September

Fabio Fognini W5/6 in Bucharest and Richard Gasquet W8/13 in Metz both obliged yesterday giving us a nice winning start to the week. Also, in the BCR Open we saw the No.1 seed and the favourite for the tournament, Victor Hanescu, beaten in R1 (as predicted in our outright preview) whilst seeds Fabrice Santoro and Benjamin Becker both fell in the Moselle Open.

Today, in Bucharest, Santiago Ventura plays Alberto Martin. Martin is much more experienced on clay (151:142 in his career plus 3 titles) but trails his fellow Spaniard 0:4 - all on clay. Strange as Ventura is the lower ranked player of the two (112 to 78) and is vastly less successful on the main tour on clay (31:32). However, Ventura has won 4 Challenger Tour titles as well as 8 Futures titles, all on dirt, and has beaten Martin in both Napoli and Marrakech this year. After a convincing win over Igor Andreev yesterday, Ventura (5/6) has to be the call given his clear head-to-head advantage.

Albert Montanes won in Estoril earlier this year and although he is ranked 26 places above Marcel Granollers (53 to 79) his overall career record of 135:166 is distinctly moderate. Granollers, for his part, has played a lot of doubles this year but still has scope to improve on the singles tour. He's beaten Montanes before (they're 1:1 overall), has won a tournament on clay and has solid, if unspectacular, form of late. Montanes deserves to be the favourite but Granollers (6/4) looks a shade big in the markets.

Those two, all-Spanish, ties aside not too much catches the eye in Romania and, as for France, matches like Zverev/Llodra and Mathieu/Gicquel look tough to call (with the player linked to our odds comparison site only marginally fancied).

That's the main match betting action for Wednesday, more action to cover on Thursday and don't forget the 400-page Tennis Formbook 2010 can be pre-ordered now.

Tuesday 22nd September

The match betting starts in earnest today as R1 sees plenty of action in both the Moselle Open in France and the BCR Open in Romania.

Starting in the Romanian capital, the Belgian Steve Darcis (9/10) is a fair price against Simon Greul. The German, Greul, holds the higher ranking of the two players (68 to 95) but that is down to some stellar play of late on the Challenger Tour. Darcis is a two-time ATP winner, played well in the Davis Cup at the weekend and represents a big step up in class for Greul - provided he's not overly fatigued, Darcis should take this match.

Staying in Bucharest, Fabio Fognini (5/6) has steadily been moving in the right direction these past 12 months and should be able to see off the challenge of Daniel Gimeno-Traver. They've shared one win apiece in two matches this year but the Italian leads 2:1 overall and has the better ranking.

In Metz, the best options are Andrey Golubev (10/11), the 22-year-old from Kazakhstan to beat the 23-year-old from Uzbekistan, Denis Istomin. Golubev now lives in Italy and won their only previous meeting 6-0 7-5.

Interesting to see Richard Gasquet (8/13) against Michael Berrer, the Frenchman is on the comeback trail after his drug suspension (and subsequent acquittal) and needs to start making up for lost time.

That's the main match betting action for Tuesday, more to follow tomorrow and don't forget the Tennis Formbook 2010 can be pre-ordered as well.

Monday 21st September

Back to regular ATP Tour action today with events in both France and Romania. And after Juan Martin Del Potro W14/1 at the US Open, don't forget, you can still sign up for this week's outright picks as there are some good bets lined up for both events. Simply click here for details.

"Both tournament favourites this week - Hanescu and Monfils - represent poor value in the betting markets. Both have just one tournament win to their name but trade at very short odds."

As for match betting, given there was Davis Cup action over the weekend and a number of players will be arriving from far-flung destinations, the scheduled play is minimal for the first day. However, there are some intriguing qualifiers in Metz with Nicolas Mahut, Arnaud Clement and Andreas Beck all in action trying to make the main draw - any of these guys could be a threat this week if making the main draw.

In the main event itself, look out for Josselin Ouanna against another French player, Adrian Mannarino. Ouanna is touted as 'one to watch' for the future but at 4/7 today he's too short to back (Ouanna leads 4:2 with all the matches played on the Challenger Tour).

It's a slow start as well over in Romania with little to note on a quiet day's play - things really get going on Tuesday.

So there's plenty of time still left to sign up for this week's outright bets, just click outright tournament bets for details, and don't forget the Tennis Formbook 2010 can be pre-ordered as well.

Sunday 20th September

Both Davis Cup SF matches failed to make it to a deciding third day as both Spain and the Czech Republic won their respective doubles rubbers on Saturday to claim unassailable 3:0 leads.

Spain will now host the Czechs in the final to be played early in December and are very hot favourites (1/9) to retain the title they won in Argentina last year. Home advantage makes them even stronger fancies and with an array of talent like Nadal, Verdasco, Ferrer, Robredo, Ferrero, Lopez, Almagro (and more) the only problem they face is who to pick!

Next week we return to regular action on the ATP Tour with tournaments in both Romania and France.

Victor Hanescu is the No.1 seed in the BCR Romanian Open in Bucharest whilst in France another home player, Gael Monfils, is seeded No.1 in the Moselle Open, staged in Metz.

Don't forget after Juan Martin Del Potro W14/1 at the US Open you can now sign up for next week's outright bets as there are some good priced selections lined up for both events. Simply click here for details.

Saturday 19th September

Both Spain and the Czech Republic look well on their way to making the final of the Davis Cup after they opened up 2:0 leads on the first day's play in their respective ties.

In the case of Spain this was of little surprise as opponents Israel were always taken to struggle in their clash but two great matches in Croatia saw the home side, and favourites for the tie, end the day with a mountain to climb if they are to make their second final in five years (won 2005).

Ivo Karlovic missed four match points in losing to Radek Stepanek in a 5'59" marathon which Stepanek eventually won 16-14 in the fifith set after withstanding 78 aces from his Croatian opponent and then Marin Cilic fell to Tomas Berdych in four sets.

Both Spain and the Czechs will look to wrap up the ties today in the doubles - and both are favourites to do so.

In the World Group play-offs the biggest surprise looks to be India, 2:0 up against South Africa, with Holland also doing well to hold France to 1:1 after their first day of action. Elsewhere Switzerland, Serbia and Chile look well on top in their ties after each country won both singles rubbers on Friday.

Don't forget after Juan Martin Del Potro W14/1 at the US Open you can now sign up for next week's outright picks as the action returns with the BCR Romanian Open in Bucharest as well as the Moselle Open in Metz.

There's some great bets lined up - simply click outright tournament bets for details.

Friday 18th September

A big weekend in the Davis Cup as the last four countries remain in the main draw.

In the Spain v Israel tie David Ferrer (1/25) and Juan Carlos Ferrero (1/10) are strong favourites to give Spain a 2-0 lead on Day 1 and a win for both should set Spain (1/33 favourites to win this tie) well on the way to the final. The home side simply look much too good in the singles. Ante-post Spain (2/1) were the top pick for the tournament and it's very hard not to see them winning through this weekend in Murcia.

The other match could be very tight. The Croatia v Czech Republic tie sees the home side as slight favourites but today Karlovic starts off against Stepanek (trails 0:2) and Cilic must play Tomas Berdych (0:0). With an edge in the doubles as well, after Lukas Dlouhy won in New York, the Czechs must be seen as a major threat to their hosts. Marin Cilic needs to play well on the back of his QF in the US Open and Karlovic has to back that up also.

Ante-post our advice for the Davis Cup was Croatia (25/1) ... but for this tie, played now, the best play is a small cover bet on the Czech team (11/10).

Elsewhere in the tournament's World Group qualifiers the likes of France, Brazil and Sweden look strong favourites to be promoted to next season's top section - but all are much too short to back.

Don't forget after Juan Martin Del Potro W14/1 at the US Open you can now sign up for next week's outright picks - Simply click outright tournament bets for details.

Thursday 17th September

The SF matches in this year's Davis Cup start tomorrow with one match, Spain v Israel, looking over almost before it's even begun but the other tie is shaping up to be a potentially titanic battle, Croatia v Czech Republic.

Even without Rafael Nadal, Spain have an experienced quartet in the form of Robredo, Ferrero, Ferrer and Lopez. Although none is in stunning form they should have enough to beat the huge underdogs from Israel. Erlich and Ram are a good doubles pairing, Dudi Sela is respected in the singles but Harel Levy could well prove to be the weak link of the team and is the player the Spanish will no doubt target.

In the other SF, Croatia, winners already over Chile and the USA host the Czech Republic. Marin Cilic and Ivo Karlovic will spearhead their effort but high-profile absentees Ivan Ljubicic and Mario Ancic give their visitors a distinct chance. Tomas Berydch and Radek Stepanek are both well-ranked in singles for the Czech team, Hernych and Dlouhy are noted in doubles.

There are also World Group play-offs taking place this weekend, which include Italy v Switzerland, Sweden v Romania and Austria v Chile. And, further down the scale, Great Britain face Poland in the Europe/Africa Group 1 play-offs. We'll have free bets on all this tennis action tomorrow.

Don't forget, pre-orders are being taken for the Tennis Formbook 2010, a 400 page guide to all the tour events for the coming season - a vital aid to making money from your tennis betting.

The action starts in those Davis Cup ties on Friday.

Wednesday 16th September

After the excitement of the US Open, and a great winning bet on Juan Martin Del Potro W14/1, the action on the ATP Tour takes something of a downturn these next couple of weeks. However, that's not to say there isn't more money to be won.

This time of the year can be extremely lucrative with the right information (click tennis betting opportunities for more) and the possibilities for profitable betting still present themselves ... you just have to look a little harder.

The weekend sees the SF matches in the Davis Cup where previous picks Croatia (advised at 25/1) and Spain (advised at 2/1) are both in action. The holders, Spain, host Israel and Croatia take on the Czech Republic.

Next week the regular tour picks up again with action in Bucharest (clay) and Moselle (indoor hard) and don't forget you can sign up for outright bets for these events today. Simply click outright tournament bets for more like Del Potro!

Pre-orders are also being taken for the Tennis Formbook 2010, a 400 page guide to all the tour events for the coming season - a vital aid to making money from your tennis betting.

We'll start previewing the Davis Cup tomorrow.

Tuesday 15th September

Yesterday's final at Flushing Meadows was a great way to bring the curtain down on the US Open .. JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO WON 14/1.

The Argentine was one of just two outright picks for the men's singles title (the other was Federer!) and duly claimed his first Grand Slam title. After a titanic battle the No.6 seed sealed a 3-6 7-6 4-6 7-6 6-2 victory - his great serve and huge forehand backed up with a fantastic fighting spirit as the 20-year-old ran out a worthy winner after their 4'06" battle.

Federer may have missed out on a sixth US Open title but he did land a very nice 9/2 bet on the first set scoreline (winning it 6-3). There were also numerous winners with our daily tennis tips as these free bets returned winners almost every day of the championships.

Remember, you can get our outright tournament bets every week. All you need to do is sign up here for the coming weeks ... there's still plenty more winners to back in 2009.

The next action on the men's tour is the Davis Cup SF's where we already hold a huge ante-post price about Croatia (25/1) as well as a cover bet on Spain (2/1). Both play in those SF matches later this week against the Czech Republic and Israel respectively.

That's the action completed at Flushing Meadows for another year. A nice way to finish with a huge profit ... sign up for next week!

Monday 14th September

Prior to the start of the action at Flushing Meadows the two picks for the men's title at the US Open were none other than Roger Federer (6/5) and Juan Martin Del Potro (14/1). These two players came from the latest in our weekly outright betting previews ... previews that you can sign up to, just simply CLICK HERE.

In this respect, the final is academic for betting purposes as whoever wins, the profit is guaranteed (just if Del Potro obliges it's that much bigger).

Can the Argentine do it? On his showing against Rafael Nadal yesterday he must stand a chance. The Spaniard was clearly not at his best in their SF but a scoreline which reads 6-2 6-2 6-2 is as severe a beating as Nadal has received in many a year. The No.6 seed has been playing very well here.

However, Roger Federer then came out and played superbly himself to defeat Novak Djokovic in straight sets. It was a high quality encounter but the world No.1 was simply too good for the Serb.

Today's match echoes last year's final as Federer takes on a first time Slam finalist (it was Andy Murray in 2008) and has all the form, experience and head-to-head stats on his side. The Swiss player leads 6:0 (3:0 hard) and beat Del Potro 6-3 6-0 6-0 at the Australian Open in January!

Federer to win 3-1 (5/2) looks a slightly better call than 3-0 (6/4) and the view on the first set scoreline would be Federer 6-2 (9/1) or 6-3 (9/2).

That's the action completed at Flushing Meadows for another year. A nice way to finish with a certain profit ... don't forget to sign up for next week!

Sunday 13th September

What is traditionally refered to as 'Super Saturday' at the US Open will now become 'Super Sunday' this year as, after several recent rain delays, the women's final and the men's SF matches are scheduled for Flushing Meadows today.

Starting with the women, Kim Clijsters made her fifth Slam final amid bizarre scenes last night against Serena Williams - although the Belgian was well on top before Serena's meltdown - and will now face the Dane, Caroline Wozniacki who is contesting her first major decider after downing Wickmayer in straight sets - W8/11.

Clijsters won here in 2005, is a hot favourite to win again (2/9) and has the form and experience to do so - she really should win. However, Wozniacki (9/2), given the crazy nature of this tournament, is a big enough price just to merit a small interest as she's done little wrong thus far in the event and could possibly rise to the occasion.

As for the men, Federer leads Djokovic 8:4 (6:3 hard, 3:1 Slams) and has beaten him here each of the last two years. The No.1 seed is still way too short to consider (2/9), more so as the Serb has looked in better form of late and, if starting well, can certainly push the favourite. A four set match (13/8) looks the better call than a five set marathon in what could turn out be a great match.

Nadal leads Del Potro 4:2 going into their SF clash but has lost the last two matches to the 6'5" Argentine (Miami & Montreal) and is also struggling with an abdominal muscle injury. Del Potro (5/4), the No.6 seed, is priced about right for this match and, given Nadal's ailments and disrupted QF match with Gonzalez, looks the best option for this second SF.

Saturday 12th September

Friday's play was a total washout at the US Open, no matches were played and so today's schedule - Day 12 - is simply re-run of what should have taken place yesterday.

Weather permitting, the women's final will now be played on Sunday with the men's decider being pushed back a day also to Monday. As for today's re-scheduled matches, these have both been previewed already but to briefly go through the matches again.

Serena Williams leads Kim Clijsters 7:1 (7:0 hard) and the American remains a favourite (2/5) to win and end the Belgian's great run. It may be no easy task, however, and Serena to win 2-1 (3/1) looks a decent price given that 4 of her 7 wins over Clijsters have been by that scoreline.

Caroline Wozniacki has never played Yanina Wickmayer before but she is expected to win their first encounter today. The Dane, seeded No.9, has played well over the last couple of weeks and on the back of three WTA titles already in 2009 should prove too strong for her Belgian opponent.

The best bet in this match looks Wozniacki to win 2-0 (8/11) and claim a place in her first ever Grand Slam final ... whenever it's played!

Pre-orders for the Tennis Formbook 2010 can be made HERE and don't forget to come back tomorrow for more free tennis tips.

Friday 11th September

A winner last night at the US Open as Juan Martin Del Potro came back to defeat Marin Cilic in four sets W7/4. In the other men's QF, Nadal and Gonzalez were hampered by poor weather and must finish later today with the Spaniard leading 7-6 6-6 (3-2).

Day 11 at Flushing Meadows sees the women take centre stage as the last four girls battle it out for a place in Saturday's final.

Although the pair haven't met in just over 6 years, Serena Williams still leads Kim Clijsters 7:1 (7:0 hard). The American is favourite (4/9) to win and end the Belgian's great run - including a win over Venus Williams - but it will be no easy task. Serena to win 2-1 (3/1) looks a decent price given that 4 of her 7 wins over Clijsters have been by that scoreline.

Caroline Wozniacki has never played Yanina Wickmayer before but she is expected to win their first encounter today. The Dane, seeded No.9, has put in some solid performances here and on the back of three WTA titles already in 2009 should prove too strong for her Belgian opponent.

The best call in this match looks Wozniacki to win 2-0 (8/11) and claim a place in her first ever Grand Slam final.

Thursday 10th September

Just the two matches of note today in the US Open as the final two places in the SF's are up for grabs.

We already know that in the women's draw it will be Williams v Clijsters and Wozniacki v Wickmayer who meet on Friday and last night we found out the line-up of the first men's SF.

Roger Federer saw off Robin Soderling in four sets W11/4, as forecast, and Novak Djokovic also made the last four as he beat Fernando Verdasco by three sets to one, which W3/1. Two good winners from our free bets.

Juan Martin Del Potro beat Marin Cilic 5-7 6-4 6-4 6-2 at the Australian Open earlier this year. He's the favourite to win again today but Cilic was mighty impressive against Andy Murray last time out. This has the potential to go all the way but the preference is for another four set match (7/4) - if either player wins in four sets, the bet is still a winner.

Fernando Gonzalez has beaten Rafael Nadal twice on hard courts despite trailing their series 3:6. Nadal has played better than many expected these last two weeks and probably merits his short price (1/3) - more so as he beat the Chilean 6-3 6-2 6-4 at the Australian Open back in January. Like the Djokovic/Verdasco match, the view is that the favourite will win but only after meeting some resistance. Nadal to win 3/1 (11/4) is the call.

Wednesday 9th September

Yesterday's bulletin suggested than Andy Murray might well struggle if Marin Cilic played up to his best - and did he ever! - and that Rafael Nadal was the better call than Gael Monfils. Also that Clijsters and Williams were very solid picks in the women's draw.

Going into the first of today's QF matches in the US Open Roger Federer leads Robin Soderling 11:0 on past meetings - 5:0 on hard, 3:0 on grass and 2:0 on clay (including their latest Grand Slam meeting which Federer won 6-1 7-6 6-4 to claim this year's French Open title).

Federer (1/16) has to be the pick but the Swede, playing up to his very best is capable of pushing the world No.1, and four sets (11/4) in the match betting looks a better option than a three-setter, which is just 4/11.

In the other men's match, Novak Djokovic leads Fernando Verdasco 3:2 (it's 1:1 on hard) and he's a warm favourite to win today. Despite a generally disappointing last 12 months or so in the Slams, and the fact Verdasco beat him here in 2005 in an epic five-setter, the Serb (4/9) should make it to the SF's. Djokovic to win this one 3-1 (3/1) looks the best play in this match.

As for the women, can Melanie Oudin make the SF's by beating Wozniacki today? Given her form of the past fortnight, she sure can, although the American has benefited on more than one occasion as her opponents have not played up to their very best - if Wozniacki does, she wins.

Kateryna Bondarenko (4/6) looks the call over Yanina Wickmayer.

Tuesday 8th September

The victories of both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic yesterday at the US Open means the spotlight today falls on the other two members of the 'Big Four' with Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in action on Day 9.

Both now face a step up in opponents with Nadal against Gael Monfils and Murray taking on Marin Cilic. Similar matches and potential banana skins.

Murray is 3:0 against Cilic (latest 7-5 7-6 6-1 at the French Open) meaning he should win comfortably. However, the Croat is still to fulfil his true potential - he's top ten material - and if plays right up to his best, Murray can afford no mistakes. A four set match (5/2) looks the best call here.

Nadal has lost to Monfils before (Doha 2009 4-6 4-6) and the French player is another under-achiever who, if he plays well (if being the key word), could cause the Spaniard real problems. Given his lack of match practice, poor record in NY and laboured win last time Nadal is best swerved but Monfils (13/8) is too short a price given his generally unreliable profile.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (8/11) to see off Fernando Gonzalez looks a more solid option. This French player is one to rely on and in a battle of the big-hitters can come out on top against his Chilean opponent.

The day's other matches have minimal appeal as Juan Martin Del Potro should prove too strong for Juan Carlos Ferrero and, in the women's draw, Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters are strongly fancied to set up a mouthwatering SF clash on Thursday.

Monday 7th September

Kim Clijsters/Venus Williams W11/10 on Day 7 of the US Open as the Belgian wild card won a bizarre encounter, which went to a deciding third set, 6-0 0-6 6-4. Serena Williams also won to make the QF's.

And today at Flushing Meadows it's the women's draw that has the more interesting matches. Each of the four games could go either way and all four underdogs are in with a real chance.

Svetlana Kuznetsova (1/1) is 2:0 against Caroline Wozniacki on hard courts, higher ranked and a former winner here - however it's the Dane's better recent form that make her the favourite. Likewise another Russian, Nadia Petrova (11/10), would have been the favourite to beat her American opponent, Melanie Oudin, a week ago - but today she too is the one who the bookmakers have written off.

Similarly Kvitova/Wickmayer and Dulko/Bondarenko are matches which could very easily see a surprise.

Maybe less chance of upsets with the men. Roger Federer is 8:0 against Tommy Robredo and Novak Djokovic is 3:1 over Radek Stepanek and both top seeds should prevail in these matches.

But the chances of John Isner (7/4) should be noted when taking on the Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco. Isner, with that serve, will push the No.10 seed and the gut feeling is that Nikolay Davydenko (11/8) is certainly a much better player than the one Robin Soderling beat 6-1 6-3 6-1 in the French Open a couple of months back.

Overall, an intriguing day. Be sure to get more free tennis tips tomorrow.

Sunday 6th September

Did you heed the advice yesterday? Not to believe that every player at a short price is (a) a 'good thing' to win and (b) will do so in straight sets.

Both Federer (1/25) and Djokovic (1/25) were taken to a fourth set before winning through yesterday whilst the likes of Andy Roddick (1/9) and Dinara Safina (1/5) lost altogether. Maria Sharapova also fell on the first day of the US Open to provide multiple shocks.

We also flagged up Tommy Robredo (6/4) to beat James Blake - once again the American failing to mount a serious challenge at a Slam.

Day 7 at Flushing Meadows and for the middle Sunday the pick of the men's matches is Tomas Berdych (6/5) against Fernando Gonzalez. The pair are 3:3 on past meetings but the Czech player has won the last three of these encounters (all hard court). There's little between them on the rankings, making Berdych the value as the slight underdog, and the 23-year-old can edge what could well be a tight match.

In the women's draw Kim Clijsters trails Venus Williams 4:6 (although they haven't met on tour for 4 years due to the Belgian's brief retirement) but the wild card for the event is the favourite to oust the No.3 seed today.

This is because Clijsters has looked great in her three matches to date and Williams has looked anything but in her games - we can't split the pair but Total Sets at three (11/10) looks the best call in another potentially close encounter at the Arthur Ashe Stadium later today.

Saturday 5th September

Jose Acasuso W5/2 won well yesterday and Josselin Ouanna proved to be no forlorn hope against Fernando Gonzalez. The young Frenchman went down 4-6 7-6 3-6 4-6, showing the poor value about taking the Chilean to win in three easy sets - it was much tougher than that.

Day 6 today at the US Open. On the men's side Federer, Davydenko, Djokovic and Roddick should all progress to R4 - but backing players as low as Federer at 1/25 is simply asking for trouble. Whilst some see it as 'buying money' that is far from the truth, these guys don't always win!

Better to approach these kind of matches by way of the speciality markets, like the total number of sets, as seen with the Gonzalez/Ouanna match yesterday. Roddick/Isner (9/4) to last four sets looks the best option in this respect. Two big servers, tie-breaks... could be a long match.

Pick of the men today are, at least on form, Tommy Haas (6/4) against Fernando Verdasco. Mention has been made before of the Spaniard's ability to lose matches when well-fancied. Haas leads him 2:0 and the German certainly has a better, and longer, track record in the Slams. A more speculative bet would be Tommy Robredo (6/4) up against the American, James Blake. The form says Blake (he leads Robredo 4:2) but he has a poor Grand Slam record and the Spaniard could cause an upset despite being distinctly out of form himself for much of 2009.

Nothing today in the women's draw except a word of caution, as above, about players at short prices - backers of Dinara Safina (1/5) be warned!

Friday 4th September

Day 5 at the US Open. The first four days have seen very little in the way of surprises in the men's draw (in fact, 13 of the 14 matches on Thursday went the way of the formbook) but the women's event is starting to prove as intriguing as ever with both Jankovic and Dementieva losing out yesterday and Dinara Safina still not convincing as the No.1 seed.

Today the matches involving Thomaz Bellucci (9/4) against Gilles Simon and Jose Acasuso (5/2) against David Ferrer merit a mention. Both these underdogs are capable of causing upsets, even though the favourites appear to be 'good things'. Also, whilst each match has three sets in the Total Sets market as the clear, short-priced favourite, both these options look very poor value. Both matches could well be long affairs.

Likewise Josselin Ouanna (10/1) against Fernando Gonzalez - do not assume this match will be a breeze for the No.11 seed. The Chilean is no shoo-in here as the young Frenchman does have ability and could prolong this match beyond the expected three set duration - (1/3) in a place!

There's little to report on the women's side with Serena Williams along with Victoria Azarenka and Kim Clijsters all looking strong ... Venus needs to up her game though against Magdalena Rybarikova after failing to impress so far in the tournament.

Thursday 3rd September

After three days of play the US Open is beginning to take shape with the likes of Roger Federer and Serena Williams starting strongly and all the other top seeds coming through early matches - although some have done it with rather more style than others!

Matches for Day 4 at Flushing Meadows mirror those of yesterday, most involving short-priced favourites who seem hard to oppose - Roddick, Djokovic, Davydenko on the men's side and Sharapova, Dementieva and Jankovic in the women's draw. Still, a few matches to highlight today over in New York.

Starting with the women, Alona Bondarenko (4/6) takes a 3:1 lead over Gisela Dulko into their match and the Ukrainian girl is expected to extend that head-to-head advantage. Also Patty Schnyder (8/13), who made the QF's here last year, should defeat the Italian, Sara Errani.

Elsewhere, an Italian in with a chance is Tathiana Garbin (6/4) against the Czech, Petra Kvitova. Not easy for Garbin but on the stats there's not as much between them as the odds would suggest.

Less on the men's side. Olivier Rochus (4/1) has fallen off the radar in the past 18 months, otherwise he would have been a strong fancy against hometown boy (but serial Grand Slam under-achiever) James Blake.

Jesse Witten had a huge win in R1 over Igor Andreev - a strange result - but Maximo Gonzalez (6/4) is another player some 200 places above him in the rankings. Despite a clay-court pedigree, Gonzalez is the call.

Wednesday 2nd September

Two more winners yesterday at the US Open as Viktor Troicki W1/1 against Peter Luczak and Sabine Lisicki W5/6 against Aravane Rezai - and there was a comment on Ana Ivanovic looking vulnerable in her match before the No.11 seed lost to Kateryna Bondarenko 6-2 3-6 6-7.

That's a great start for our free tennis tips at Flushing Meadows and there should be plenty more winners during the remainder of this Grand Slam.

Moving onto the matches scheduled for Day 3, a tougher day in terms of finding winners at decent prices. Lots of short prices with Federer, Nadal, Del Potro on the men's side plus Azarenka and the Williams sisters in the women's tournament. None offer any great betting interest.

One player to note is Marat Safin (7/5). The enigmatic Russian retires at the end of the season and although he trails Jurgen Melzer 1:3 on past meetings, the scene of one of his greatest triumphs (winner 2000) could see him roll back the years and reverse that previous form. As usual with Safin, it will be an 'all or nothing' performance but if he starts well, the first set is crucial, he stands a decent chance against his Austrian opponent.

As for the women, equally tricky today and stakes are best kept small, but the Swiss girl, Timea Bacsinszky (5/2), has won her only previous match with Daniela Hantuchova - and with the Slovakian player, ranked No.22 here, not being the most reliable performer a shock is possible.

More free bets tomorrow, with a couple of very interesting matches to report on. Make sure you stake sensibly today, no easy games scheduled for Wednesday, and come back tomorrow for more action.

Tuesday 1st September

Two winners yesterday as Mikhail Youzhny W1/1 against Mathieu and Sania Mirza W11/10 over Olga Govortsova. A good way to start off our free tennis tips for Flushing Meadows.

Overall, there were no huge surprises on the first day of the US Open and, at first glance, it would seem that Day 2 shouldn't see too many shocks either - even though Murray (Gulbis) and Djokovic (Ljubicic) in the men's draw, and Ivanovic (Bondarenko) in the women's, have matches which they will all be happy to win. All are short prices, and all should win comfortably ... but none are formalities as Venus Williams will testify after she very nearly went out in R1 last night to Vera Dushevina.

Viktor Troicki (1/1) to beat Peter Luczak is an interesting bet today. The Australian, Luczak, is prolific on the Challenger Tour but mainly on clay and, aged 30, isn't getting any younger. Troicki is a steady improver, the higher ranked player and has a better record on hard courts on the main tour - the Serb can certainly win this match.

In the women's tournament, Sabine Lisicki (5/6) burst onto the scene at Wimbledon, making it to the QF's, and the German girl, a steady climber in the world rankings, is taken to beat her French opponent, Aravane Rezai, in what should be a good match today. Lisicki can just shade the result.
